Sustainability consultant

Often working as external consultants, some larger companies may have small teams within their businesses, so the role may vary. However, the sort of work may include: 
 

• writing sustainable business policies and ensuring ethical policies, as well as ensuring they are adhered to. This may be supporting the application of sustainability frameworks (IS0 14001), developing a carbon neutral (net zero) strategy, developing policies for use within the business
• some sustainability consultants will train company employees or run workshops to advise on developing sustainable business practices, reporting on key performance indicators and designing policies
• some consultants will provide assurance on the KPIs and reports which are written by companies, this will be ratifying the information back to a variety of sources, including financial, and other information such as volumes of wastage, recycling information, carbon information, ethical audit results (SMETA), gender pay gap reporting, noise pollution (external and within the business, such as factory noise and the impact on employees).
