Financial accountant

What is a financial accountant and what do they do?

Financial accountants will focus on the external reporting aspects of a company or group. They will focus on the external reporting requirements mainly, but they will often also have an internal reporting requirement.

A financial accountant in a small company will often cover all aspects of the financials, including preparing annual financial statements.

In larger companies or groups, they may be specialists in financial reporting, perhaps with a portfolio of group companies or branches, which they will review and report on. A keen interest in technology developments pertinent to accountancy, and a considered, intentional approach to leverage them for service improvement is key. This can be a varied role dependent on the business.
