Sustainable finance manager

Specialism:

What is a sustainable finance manager and what do they do?

This is a finance-specific role within the sustainability umbrella. Much as the sustainability consultant will cover all aspects of the financial and operational impacts of the sustainability model, the sustainability finance manager will focus on the numbers and financials.

Covering the sustainable finance strategic vision for the company (or client, if in practice) and understanding the legal aspects of responsible trading (such as responsible investments, sustainable insurance etc), they will provide in-depth analysis on the metrics and KPIs of various environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, such as climate change metrics, investment advisory, risk modelling and measuring long-term value. Sustainable finance managers are also responsible for reporting on targets, both internally and externally.

Rather than just considering profitability as the key decision-maker, they will advise on and provide financial information for considering ESG issues when making investment and business decisions.
