What is an internal audit manager (public sector) and what do they do?

An internal audit manager in the public sector will manage an audit team which may vary in size depending in portfolio, with responsibility for coordinating resource over a range of audits and assignments. Audit managers are the key day-to-day contact for clients, and their ability to build good relationships with a variety of stakeholders while delivering robust audit work is critical.

The internal audit manager is likely to work with a diverse range of beneficiaries and stakeholders: government departments, agencies, higher/further education, local authorities, charities and the private sector. They will report either to a senior audit manager or directly to the group chief internal auditor.

Introduction to Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA)

This four-module, self-paced e-learning course will provide an introduction to the PEFA Framework, how to understand and use it, and the process involved. The course also presents examples, offers guidance documents and background material. Participants will be invited to complete quizzes to test their understanding throughout the course. Participants will receive a course completion certificate after successfully completing all quizzes in each of the four modules.
